Contacts
Use Contacts to manage the people and recipients you send to through Drip Drop flows. Contacts can include first and last names, email addresses, phone numbers, tags, and workspace-specific custom-field values.
Open Contacts
- Choose Contacts from the sidebar.
- Use the table to search, sort, select rows, filter by tags, review saved contacts, and show optional custom-field columns.
- The base table columns are First Name, Last Name, Phone, Email, Tags, Created, and Updated; Created and Updated are hidden by default.
- Custom-field columns can appear when configured and are hidden by default.
Create or Edit a Contact
- Choose Add Contact to create a new contact, or edit an existing contact from the table.
- Enter the contact name. First Name is required; Last Name is optional.
- Add at least one reachable channel: Email Address or Phone Number.
- Add Tags and any Custom Fields if your workspace uses them.
- Save the contact.
Import Contacts From CSV or XLSX
Use Import when you need to add multiple contacts at once. The header button is labeled Import; the modal title and submit button are labeled Import Contacts.
- On the Contacts page, select Import.
- In the import modal, select Template to get a starter file with the supported column headers.
- Add your contact data to the template, then save the file as a CSV or XLSX file.
- Upload the file by selecting it or dragging it into the upload area.
- Select Preview import.
- Review validation and duplicate errors. From the preview, you can edit field values or remove rows before importing.
- When the preview is clear, select Import Contacts.
Resolve Duplicate Contacts
Use Duplicates on the Contacts page to review contacts that share an email address or phone number.
- On the Contacts page, select Duplicates.
- Review each group of matching contacts.
- Edit a contact to correct its details, or delete an extra contact when it is no longer needed.
- Continue until the duplicate group no longer appears in the list.
Use Tags
Tags help you group and filter contacts. Use them for practical segments such as leads, customers, event attendees, or test contacts.
- Assign tags while creating or editing a contact.
- Filter the contacts table by tags when you need to find a group quickly.
- Keep tag names simple and consistent so the list stays useful.
- Add or edit tags by going to Admin → Tags
Use Custom Fields
Custom fields add workspace-specific data to contact records. If custom fields are configured for your workspace, they appear as additional inputs in the contact form and as optional table columns.
- Use custom fields for data you need in personalization, filtering, or internal organization.
- Available custom fields depend on workspace configuration, and their table columns are hidden by default until shown from the table controls.
- Fix any custom-field validation errors before saving or importing contacts.
- Add or edit custom fields by going to Admin → Custom Fields
Using the Contacts Table
- Use the table to search, sort, select rows, filter contacts, and choose the columns you want to see.
- Filter contacts by tags, email opt-out status, or SMS opt-out status when you need to narrow the list.
- The base table columns are First Name, Last Name, Phone, Email, Tags, Created, and Updated. Created and Updated are hidden by default.
- Custom-field columns can appear when configured for your workspace and are hidden by default.
Edit Contacts in the Table
You can update contact details directly in the Contacts table.
- Select the field you want to change.
- Update the contact’s first name, last name, email address, phone number, or tags.
- Correct any validation errors before saving changes. Email addreses and phone numbers must use valid formats.
For more fields or a full contact record, open the contact’s edit form.
Use Bulk Actions
Select one or more contact rows to reveal bulk actions.
- Update tags for multiple contacts at once.
- Delete selected contacts when they should be removed from the workspace.
- Use Add to flow to enroll the selected contacts. See Select and Enroll Contacts in a Flow for that workflow.
NoteDeleting contacts removes them from the workspace. Review the selected rows before confirming a bulk delete.Export Contacts
Use the table’s export controls to download the contacts currently shown by your search and filters.
Before exporting, choose the visible columns you want included. This lets you tailor the export to the contact details you need.
Select and Enroll Contacts in a Flow
After contacts exist, you can select them and add them to a flow from the Contacts page. The Add to flow dropdown only appears after one or more rows are selected.
- Search or filter until the right contacts are visible.
- Select one or more rows.
- Open the Add to flow dropdown that appears above the table after selection.
- Pick the flow. Drip Drop enrolls the selected contacts when you choose the flow; there is no separate confirmation step in this panel.
Keep Contacts Clean
- Search before adding or importing to reduce duplicates.
- Verify email addresses before using them in production flows.
- Delete contacts only when they should be removed from the workspace.
Troubleshooting
Import file is not accepted
- Confirm the file is a CSV; other file types are not accepted.
- Confirm the required first_name column is present.
- Check that email and phone values are in valid formats, then review any field-level or server validation messages.
A contact will not save
- Add at least one email address or phone number.
- Fix any field-level validation messages.
- Check required custom fields if your workspace uses them.
The flow dropdown is empty
- Select one or more contact rows first; the Add to flow dropdown is hidden until contacts are selected.
- Confirm a flow exists and is available for enrollment. If the flow was just created, refresh the Contacts page and try again.
- If enrollment fails, confirm the selected contacts have the channel required by the flow blocks, such as an email address for email steps or a phone number for text-message steps.
