Unsubscribe and Public Pages

This page documents the current public unsubscribe experience in DripDrop. It does not document public API authentication or developer integrations.

The current Unsubscribe page is a simple standalone public page. After a valid unsubscribe action, recipients see a centered confirmation card with the heading Unsubscribed and the message “You have been successfully unsubscribed from this mailing list.”

When a recipient unsubscribes, DripDrop suppresses future messages for the affected channel.

Email Unsubscribes

Email opt-outs prevent future email sends to that recipient. Email addresses are matched case-insensitively, so [email protected] and [email protected] are treated as the same address.

Your account’s compliance settings determine whether an email opt-out applies across the account or only to the provider that received the unsubscribe event. See Admin Compliance for the available opt-out scope and enrollment-handling settings.

SMS Opt-outs

SMS opt-outs apply to text messaging. SMS consent and email consent are managed separately, so an SMS opt-out does not automatically mean the recipient has opted out of email, and vice versa.

Bounces and Delivery Failures

A hard email bounce suppresses future email sends to that address. Temporary delivery problems do not create a permanent suppression on their own.

Contacts Already Enrolled in a Flow

Suppression is checked when DripDrop is about to send a message. If a contact unsubscribes or receives a hard-bounce suppression while enrolled in an active flow, later messages for that suppressed channel are not sent.

For contact records and suppression review, see Contacts. For enrollment status and flow-level follow-up, see Flow Enrollments.

DripDrop also supports a Preview rendering of this page so builders can see how the public Unsubscribe screen will appear before sending live messages.

  • When Preview Mode is enabled, the page shows an amber banner explaining that this is how the Unsubscribe page will appear to recipients.

  • Email and SMS previews can safely display an unsubscribe URL without requiring a live send.
  • The preview URL is for rendering and review, not for production unsubscribe analytics.
  • If you are reviewing message content and want to confirm the unsubscribe link appears, use preview mode instead of sending a test campaign.

Use this page to explain the recipient-facing unsubscribe experience and how suppression affects future sends.

  • For account-wide or provider-specific opt-out scope, consent settings, and enrollment-handling options, see Admin Compliance.
  • For reviewing a contact’s email address, phone number, tags, and suppression-related record details, see Contacts.
  • For checking a contact’s status inside a flow after an unsubscribe or bounce, see Flow Enrollments.
  • For adding or previewing unsubscribe links in message content, see Templates.
A Contact Remains Enrolled but Did Not Receive a Message

A contact can remain enrolled in a flow after unsubscribing or receiving a hard-bounce suppression. DripDrop checks suppression when it is about to send, so later messages for the suppressed channel are not sent.

Review the contact in Contacts, then review its flow status in Flow Enrollments.

A Contact Appears to Be Suppressed Unexpectedly

Check the recipient’s email address or phone number for an earlier unsubscribe, hard bounce, or SMS opt-out. Email matching is case-insensitive.

For the account’s opt-out scope and enrollment-handling rules, see Admin Compliance.

Preview Banner Missing

Confirm you are viewing the preview rendering rather than the normal public confirmation page.

Unsubscribe Link Preview Looks Wrong

Check whether the tracking domain is configured. Preview URL generation changes when a tracking domain is available.

You Expected a Preference Center

The current product behavior is a single unsubscribe confirmation page. Use Admin Compliance for account-level consent and suppression settings.
