Flows

Flows are automated journeys that move contacts through messages, waits, branches, AI actions, handoffs, and endpoints. Use this overview to understand where flows fit in Drip Drop, then open the child pages for detailed editor, block, enrollment, history, and reporting guidance.

  • Confirm the audience. Prepare contacts, segments, or filters before you enroll people into a flow.
  • Prepare the message assets the flow will use. Email and Text Message blocks depend on providers plus templates.
  • Set up tags and custom fields if you plan to organize flows, filter contacts, route branches, or save AI analysis output.
  • Decide the operating rules up front: timezone, start or end window, pacing, daily send limits, and whether the flow should start as Draft, Scheduled, or Active.

Open DashboardFlows to browse existing flows. Use tile view for visual previews, and switch to list view when you need to find, compare, or manage many flows at once.

Work with the Flows table

  • Use Search to find a flow by name. If it does not appear, clear active filters and check whether its status is hiding it from the current view.
  • Use available filters to narrow the list by details such as status, tags, created date, or last-updated date.
  • Review the row details before opening a flow. Depending on the current list configuration, these may include the flow name, status, tags, created date, updated date, enrollment count, block count, or recent activity.
  • Select a row to open that flow and continue in the Flow Editor or its related settings, enrollment, history, and reporting views.

Manage one or more flows

  • Use the row action menu for any actions the current workspace makes available, such as opening the flow, renaming it, duplicating it, or changing its status.
  • Select multiple rows only when a bulk action is available and you have confirmed the selected flows are the intended records.
  • Archive or delete a flow only after confirming it is no longer needed. Archiving is preferable when you may need its configuration or history later.

Customize the list when available

If your workspace offers column controls, saved views, or additional filters, use them to keep the details most useful for your team visible. These options can vary by workspace and product version.

Tip
Start with Search and Filters when a flow seems to be missing. Archived, completed, or otherwise filtered flows may not appear in the current view.

Click New Flow to create a new automation. The create form captures the flow name and editor preferences such as background design, autosave, and snap-to-grid behavior before you move into the canvas.

After creation, most work happens in the Flow Editor. Add blocks, configure each block, connect the path, save, resolve errors, test with a small audience, then activate or schedule the flow when it is ready.

See the following documentation for more information:

  • Flow Editor covers canvas behavior, toolbar controls, saving, connections, errors, and preview tools.
  • Flow Blocks covers what each block type does and which fields are required.
  • Flow Settings covers status, pacing, timezone, tags, custom fields, and launch-related options.
  • Flow Enrollments, History, and Stats cover what happens after contacts enter the flow.
  • Flow Templates covers browsing ready-made flow blueprints, previewing included assets, creating a draft flow, and completing any missing configuration before activation.

Draft: Use while building, validating, or revising a flow before it should run.
Scheduled: Use when the flow should begin at a planned date or operating window.
Active: Use when the flow is ready to process enrolled contacts.
Paused: Use to stop progress temporarily without deleting the flow or losing its structure.
Complete: Use for flows that have finished their intended lifecycle.
Archived: Use to keep the record while removing it from active day-to-day work.
  1. Create or verify the Providers, Templates, Contacts, Tags, and Custom Fields the flow needs.
  2. Create a flow with a clear internal name and choose the editor preferences you want.
  3. Open the Flow Editor and start with a simple path, such as EmailPauseText Message End.
  4. Save the flow and check the Errors panel. Fix missing providers, templates, branches, or required block settings before launch.
  5. Enroll a test contact first, then review History and Stats to confirm the flow behaves as expected.
  6. Only after the test path looks right should you activate the flow and enroll a wider audience.
No flows visible

Confirm you are on Dashboard → Flows, clear search/filter controls, and check whether the flow is archived or complete.

Preview looks incomplete

Save the editor and confirm blocks and connections are present. The preview depends on saved flow structure.

Cannot launch or enroll confidently

Open the Flow Editor, save, and resolve any visible errors before changing status or adding more contacts.

Contacts missing from enrollment

Check filters and whether contacts are already enrolled in the flow.

History or stats look empty

Confirm at least one contact has entered the flow and enough time has passed for events to be recorded.
