OpenRouter

Use OpenRouter when you want Drip Drop to power AI-assisted writing and analysis through an OpenRouter API key. OpenRouter is an AI provider, not an email, SMS, phone, or inbox integration.

OpenRouter is currently available as a Beta provider. Model availability, permissions, and credits depend on your OpenRouter account.
  • You want AI-assisted template generation or template improvement in Drip Drop.
  • You want structured text analysis features backed by an OpenRouter model.
  • You want to choose a supported model or let OpenRouter route each request automatically.
  • Confirm you have an OpenRouter account and a valid API key.
  • Review your OpenRouter credits, model access, and account limits before using the provider in production workflows.
  • Use a safe test prompt or test workflow before relying on generated content.
  1. Open Dashboard → Admin → Integrations.
  2. Click New Integration and choose OpenRouter.
  3. Enter the OpenRouter API Key. The provider form accepts an API key beginning with the OpenRouter key format.
  4. Save the provider.
  5. After the credentials validate, choose a default model from the model selector.

Drip Drop validates the key against OpenRouter, loads supported models, and caches the available model list for up to 24 hours. The selector places Auto (best available) first when it is available.

  • Choose Auto (best available) when you want OpenRouter to route the request automatically.
  • Choose a listed model when you need a specific supported model family.
  • The list is not every model available through OpenRouter. Drip Drop filters the OpenRouter model response to supported chat-model families.
  • A valid API key can still fail on a model because of account permissions, model availability, credits, or provider limits.
  • Use the connected provider for AI-assisted template generation and improvement.
  • Use it for text analysis and other AI-supported workflow actions.
  • Drip Drop sends requests through OpenRouter’s OpenAI-compatible API and uses the saved default model unless an AI action supplies another supported model.
API key and authentication problems
  • API key rejected: create or copy a current key from OpenRouter and check that the account can access the API.
Model availability problems
  • Model missing: refresh the provider model list later; availability is filtered and cached, and the OpenRouter account may not expose every model.
Rate limits and provider errors
  • Request denied or out of credits: review OpenRouter permissions, credits, limits, and model availability.
  • Requests time out or fail temporarily: retry after checking OpenRouter service status and the provider’s returned error.
