AI
Use this page to turn on AI, choose AI or Your own AI provider, and use AI chat, Message Templates, and flow blocks. ChatGPT, Claude, OpenRouter, and Telnyx AI can run AI chat when the selected model supports tool calling.
Choose an AI Provider
Each connected provider can power AI chat, Message Templates, and flow blocks.
- ChatGPT — connect an OpenAI API key.
- Claude — connect an Anthropic API key.
- OpenRouter — connect an OpenRouter API key and choose a supported model.
- Telnyx AI — connect a Telnyx API key and choose a Telnyx-hosted model.
Connect an AI Provider
- Open Integrations → AI.
- Turn on Use AI on this account if it is off.
- Under AI provider, choose AI or Your own AI provider. AI uses the account allowance; your own provider uses a connected API key. The app does not switch between them automatically.
- If you chose Your own AI provider and have not connected one, select New Integration and choose an AI provider.
- Enter a Name and the provider API key, then select Verify API Key. After verification succeeds, choose a Default Model and select Save & Continue.
Verify the Connection
- On the final step, review Credentials stored. Select Check credentials if you want to run the live check again, then select Done.
The setup wizard creates the integration as Active. Only active AI integrations appear in AI selectors, and Default Model lists models available from the connected provider.
Use AI Chat, Message Templates, and Flows
To use AI chat, select the AI instructions gear, turn on AI, and optionally turn on Let AI suggest edits. Open the bot button on the dashboard to ask about your account or the documentation. When Your own AI provider is selected, AI chat uses the connected provider and lets you choose a model when that provider supports model selection. Suggested changes wait for your approval.
In Message Templates, open AI Assistant and ask for a fresh draft, rewrite, or tone change. AI returns each proposed subject or body change as a preview that you can apply or dismiss. It respects the template’s current design, HTML, or plain-text format; text-message templates use plain text.
In the Flow Editor, add or edit an AI block. Use Write & Send Response to generate a message and send it through a selected email or text-message integration. Use Analyze Response to read text and extract structured results. You can also choose Model (optional), set Max Tokens (optional), and choose whether Fail enrollment if the AI call errors is enabled.
Troubleshooting
AI tools are missing
- Confirm that you are working in the correct account.
- Open Integrations → AI and turn on Use AI on this account if it is off.
- If AI is enabled but a tool is still unavailable, confirm that your role can use the relevant settings, template, or flow area.
An AI integration does not validate or appear
- Confirm that the API key is active and belongs to the provider you selected.
- Check the provider account for billing, model-access, or workspace restrictions, then validate and save the integration again.
- Make sure the integration is active. Only integrations with AI capability appear in AI selectors.
AI Assistant or an AI flow block fails
- For AI Assistant, confirm that Use AI on this account and the AI chat feature are on and that the selected AI source is usable. For a flow block, confirm that the selected AI integration is active and its model is available.
- Review the prompt and required fields. Write & Send Response also requires a Sending Integration and sender. Analyze Response requires a Text to analyze source and at least one output.
- Retry after checking the provider for rate limits or a temporary service problem. In a flow, review Fail enrollment if the AI call errors to control whether the enrollment stops.
