Gmail

Use Gmail to send email from a Google-hosted mailbox and detect inbound replies in Drip Drop. Connect with OAuth when possible; App Password setup remains available.

Note
OAuth is the preferred connection method. Use App Password only when it is the intended configuration for the Google account.
  • You want email messages to come from a Google-hosted mailbox.
  • You want a mailbox-based sender rather than an API email service such as SendGrid or Mailgun.
  • You have access to the Google account that should authorize the connection.
  • Confirm that you can sign in to the Google account you want to connect.
  • If using OAuth, be ready to approve Google authorization prompts.
  • If using App Password, enable 2-Step Verification and create an app password for the Gmail account at https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords.
    Note
Create or choose a safe test contact for the first email send.

The Gmail provider form supports two connection methods.

OAuth: Starts a Google authorization flow and stores the connected account in Drip Drop.
App Password: Uses the Email Address and App Password entered in the Gmail setup.
  1. Open Dashboard → Admin → Integrations.
  2. Select New Integration and choose Gmail.
Choose Gmail from the available email services when creating a new integration.

Connect with Google OAuth

Google asks for permission to send email and read Gmail messages. Sending access lets Drip Drop send through the connected mailbox. Read-only access lets Drip Drop detect replies; it does not let Drip Drop change or delete messages.

  1. Keep the authentication method set to OAuth.
  2. Select Connect with Google, then complete Google sign-in and consent.
  3. After Drip Drop reopens, confirm the form shows Connected to Google and, when displayed, the connected mailbox address.
  4. Select Save & Continue.
  5. Review the checklist headed Gmail is connected. The checklist confirms that the required configuration is present; it does not make a live request to Google.
  6. Select Done.
Connect Gmail with Google OAuth and review the Gmail data Drip Drop can access.
Select all to let Drip Drop send and recieve emails with Gmail.

Connect with an app password

  1. Set the authentication method to App Password.
  2. If needed, follow the setup help to enable 2-Step Verification and create an app password at https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords.
  3. Enter the mailbox in Email Address.
  4. Enter the generated value in App Password.
  5. Select Save & Continue.
  6. Review the checklist headed Gmail is connected, then select Done.
Connect Gmail with an email address and Google app password for SMTP sending and IMAP reply detection.
Placeholder — replace with a current Gmail Senders-step capture after a safe synthetic connection is available.
  • For OAuth, Connected to Google confirms that authorization was stored. The connected mailbox address may also appear.
  • If the form shows Google authorization expired or Google disconnected, select Reconnect and complete Google authorization again.
  • The final checklist verifies that credentials are present; it is not a live Google connection or send test.
    Note
Use a clear provider name if your organization has more than one Gmail sender.
Successful connection message.
The connected gmail should now appear with a green “verified” dot and an “Active” status.
  • Choose Gmail in an email block to send from the connected mailbox.
  • Gmail also supports detecting inbound replies. OAuth uses read-only Gmail access for this purpose.
Using a Gmail integration in an email block in a flow.

In the Gmail integration row, select Delete. The next action depends on the connection method:

  • OAuth: Review the Disconnect confirmation, then select Disconnect. Drip Drop destroys the local OAuth credentials, pauses active or scheduled flows that depend on the integration, and preserves message history.
  • App Password: Review Delete Integration, then select Delete. This uses the standard integration-deletion process and does not remove a Google OAuth grant.

Use Remove Google integrations to disconnect every OAuth-based Gmail and Google Drive integration for the account.

Warning
This affects every Gmail OAuth and Google Drive integration listed in the impact preview. Dependent active or scheduled flows pause, while message and attachment history remain available. Google sign-in remains linked.
  1. Open Dashboard → Settings → Connections.
  2. Under Remove Integrations, select Remove Google integrations.
  3. Review the affected integrations and dependent flows.
  4. Select Remove them.

Drip Drop revokes its isolated Google grants after required cleanup. To review or revoke access directly in Google, open Manage Google connected apps.

Google authorization does not complete
  • Confirm you are signing in with the intended Google account.
  • Retry the connection from Integrations → Email.
  • If authorization was revoked, reconnect the Gmail provider.
App password is rejected
  • Confirm the username matches the Gmail account that created the app password.
  • Generate a new app password if the old one was copied incorrectly or revoked.
Gmail is not available in a flow block
  • Confirm the Gmail provider exists under Integrations → Email.
  • Confirm you are configuring an email block, not an SMS or AI block.
  • Refresh the Flow Editor if the provider was created in another tab.
Email sends fail
  • Check History for the send error.
  • Confirm the connected Google account is still active and authorized.
  • Test with a contact you control before sending to real contacts.
