Postmark
Use Postmark when you want Drip Drop to send transactional email through a Postmark server and receive delivery, engagement, and optional inbound-reply events. This guide covers the current five-step setup, message streams, webhooks, senders, and verification.
Postmark uses a Server API Token scoped to one Postmark server. The selected Message Stream controls both sending and webhook registration. Webhooks and inbound processing are optional; enable only the events and reply handling you need.
When to Use Postmark
- You want a dedicated email provider connection instead of a mailbox-based OAuth connection.
- You want Drip Drop to receive delivery, bounce, spam complaint, or subscription-change events from Postmark.
- You want optional open and click events or inbound reply handling.
00 Before You Start
- Have the Postmark Server API Token for the server you want Drip Drop to use.
- Choose the Postmark Message Stream for sending. If you leave the field blank, Drip Drop uses the default outbound stream.
- Decide whether you need webhooks, open or click tracking, and inbound replies.
- Confirm your role can create integrations. Without that permission, New Integration is not shown.
01 Choose Postmark
- Open Integrations → Email.
- Click New Integration and choose Postmark.
02 Connect Postmark
- Enter the Server API Token.
- Enter the Message Stream, or leave it blank to use the default outbound stream.
- Choose Save & Continue. Drip Drop creates the integration and opens the Webhooks step. The Email integrations list returns after you finish setup and choose Done.
If you close setup after the integration is created, choose Keep it & leave to finish later or Delete it to remove the incomplete integration.
03 Configure Webhooks
On Webhooks, leave Enable Webhooks on when you want Drip Drop to register Postmark event or inbound hooks. Select the tracking and inbound options you need, then choose Configure Webhook. Choose Skip for now to postpone all webhook setup.
- Track Opens and Track Clicks determine whether Drip Drop registers Postmark’s Open and Click event hooks. They do not enable tracking within Postmark; turn on the corresponding tracking in Postmark as well. After changing either option, choose Configure Webhook again to update the registration.
- Choose Configure Webhook. Drip Drop registers or updates the Postmark webhook for the selected message stream.
- Choose Verify Webhook to check whether the webhook URL is correctly configured.
Keep Require Auth Token enabled. Drip Drop generates a separate authentication token for Postmark webhooks: event webhooks return it in the X-Drip-Drop-Token header, while inbound hooks include it in the URL because Postmark does not support custom headers for inbound email. This token is separate from the Server API Token used to connect the integration.
Inbound Replies (Optional)
Enable inbound parsing if you want Postmark to send inbound replies to Drip Drop.
- Turn on Enable Inbound Parse.
- Optionally enter an Inbound Parse Domain.
- Choose Configure Webhook to save the current settings and update Postmark’s inbound hook. Saving the form without using Configure Webhook stores the inbound option in Drip Drop but does not apply it in Postmark.
When you finish the Webhooks step, choose Save Webhook to save the settings and continue to Senders.
04 Add Senders
On Senders, add at least one address that is already approved for sending by Postmark. Select Continue after the sender appears in the list. Use Skip for now only if you will finish sender setup later; flows cannot send through this integration until a sender is configured.
05 Verify the Connection
- On Verify, choose Check credentials to have Drip Drop contact Postmark and validate the saved Server API Token.
- If you configured a webhook, choose Verify webhook to check the current URL registration in Postmark.
- Confirm the Senders row shows at least one configured sender. If it does not, add one before using the integration in a flow.
- Review the setup results, then choose Done to return to the Email integrations list.
After Postmark begins delivering webhook events, confirm them in Drip Drop. Delivery, bounce, spam-complaint, and subscription-change events are included in the base webhook; open and click events require the corresponding tracking options in both Drip Drop and Postmark.
06 Use Postmark in a Flow
- Open a flow and add an Email block.
- Under Integration, choose your Postmark integration.
- Under From Email, choose one of the integration’s configured senders.
- Under Template, choose Drip Drop for a Drip Drop template or choose the Postmark integration’s tab for a template stored in Postmark.
- Choose Save.
Troubleshooting
Postmark rejects the Server API Token
- Check that the token belongs to the Postmark server you want Drip Drop to use and that it was entered in Server API Token.
Webhook configuration fails
- Check that the webhook URL is reachable over HTTPS. If Postmark rejects it, configure the webhook after Drip Drop is deployed.
- Confirm the selected Message Stream is valid and that the Server API Token belongs to that Postmark server.
Replies do not appear
- Confirm Enable Inbound Parse is on and choose Configure Webhook. If Inbound Parse Domain is set, its MX record must point to inbound.postmarkapp.com. If the field is blank, use the server's Postmark inbound address.
Postmark events are missing
- Turn on Enable Webhooks and choose Configure Webhook after changing Message Stream, Track Opens, or Track Clicks. Postmark applies the event trigger settings when the webhook is configured.
- Use Verify Webhook to confirm that the selected Message Stream has the Drip Drop webhook. Verification does not replace sending a test event.
- If Configure Webhook says Postmark could not validate the URL, use the deployed HTTPS endpoint rather than a local-only address.
