Outlook
Connect Outlook or Microsoft 365 with Microsoft OAuth so Drip Drop can send email from the connected mailbox and detect inbound replies.
Outlook uses Microsoft OAuth only. App passwords are not supported.
When to Use Outlook
- You want email messages to come from a Microsoft-hosted mailbox such as Outlook or Microsoft 365.
- You want a mailbox-based sender rather than an API email service such as SendGrid or Mailgun.
- You want to send email and detect inbound replies through the connected Microsoft mailbox.
00 Before You Start
- Confirm you can sign in to the Microsoft account you want to connect.
- Be ready to sign in to the Microsoft mailbox you want to connect and approve the requested permissions.
01 Choose Outlook
Connect your Outlook account using Microsoft OAuth for secure access.
Choose Outlook
- Open the Email panel in Integrations.
- Select New Integration, then choose Outlook. The full-screen New Integration wizard opens.
02 Connect Outlook
- Select Connect with Microsoft.
- Sign in to the Microsoft mailbox you want to connect and approve the requested permissions.
- After Drip Drop reopens, confirm the form shows Connected to Microsoft and, when displayed, the connected mailbox address.
- Select Save & Continue.
- Select Done.
If authorization expires, the form shows Microsoft authorization expired and Please reconnect to restore access. If Microsoft is disconnected, it shows Microsoft disconnected with the same guidance. Select Reconnect and authorize the mailbox already connected to this Outlook integration.A
03 Review Senders
04 Verify the Connection
- Connected to Microsoft confirms that Microsoft authorization was stored. The connected mailbox address may also appear.
05 Use Outlook in a Flow
- Choose Outlook in an email flow block to send from the connected mailbox.
- Outlook also detects inbound replies through the connected mailbox.
06 Receive Replies and Manage Inbound Status
Outlook detects replies through a Microsoft Graph inbox subscription for the connected mailbox. Its status appears under Inbound.
- The capability is shown as active, expired, or not configured.
- Use Renews to review the current renewal timing. Use Renew, Setup, or Reconnect when that action appears.
- If replies are missing, first confirm that Outlook is connected and that Inbound is active.
07 Tracking and Provider Settings
Outlook providers expose Drip Drop internal tracking settings where available. Keep the expectations narrow: these settings cover Drip Drop link and open tracking behavior, not ESP-style provider event webhooks for clicks, opens, or deliveries.
08 Microsoft Permissions
Drip Drop requests these delegated Microsoft permissions for Outlook:
- Mail.Send — sends email from the connected mailbox.
- Mail.ReadWrite — detects inbound replies and completes supported attachment sends. Drip Drop does not label, move, edit, or delete messages that were already in the mailbox.
- User.Read — identifies the connected mailbox.
- offline_access — lets Drip Drop refresh access when you are not present.
Microsoft references: Microsoft Graph permissions, Microsoft Graph change notifications, and edit or revoke application permissions in the My Apps portal.
Drip Drop uses Outlook mailbox access to send email and detect replies. It does not label, move, edit, or delete pre-existing mailbox messages. The shared Drip Drop attachment limit is 20 MB.
09 Disconnect Outlook
- Open the delete action for the Outlook integration row.
- Review the Disconnect <integration> impact preview.
- Select Disconnect.
10 Remove Microsoft Integrations
- Open Dashboard → Settings → Connections. Under Remove Integrations, select Remove Microsoft integrations.
- Review the affected Outlook and OneDrive integrations.
- Select Remove them.
To revoke application permissions at Microsoft, use your Microsoft account privacy controls or, for a work or school account, the My Apps portal. Revoking permissions can stop the Outlook integration until it is authorized again.
Troubleshooting
OAuth problems
- If the popup closes early or authorization is denied, restart the OAuth flow and complete the Microsoft consent step again.
- If the provider shows an expired authorization state, use Reconnect to refresh mailbox access.
- If OAuth succeeds but inbound setup fails, check whether Microsoft Graph mailbox notifications are allowed for the account and whether the connected mailbox still has valid access.
Inbound/reply problems
- If replies do not appear, verify the provider was connected with OAuth and that the Outlook inbox subscription is active.
- If the inbound status looks expired or not configured, retry setup from the provider form.
- If a reply reaches the mailbox but is not linked to the expected outbound message, test again with a fresh Drip Drop send so the message threading headers are present.
